Scale calibration is very important for scale accuracy and quality. When scales are out of calibration, someone loses. In commercial transactions, either the seller is giving away free product, or the buyer is not getting what he is paying for.
That’s why commercial scales are to be checked for accuracy at least once a year, and many companies choose to calibrate them more often (semi-annually, quarterly, or even monthly).
In industrial applications, inaccurate weighing ruins recipes, jeopardizes quality, and increases waste.
Although there are a number of ways to theoretically calibrate a scale, applying masses of known weight to the device being tested is the only way to verify its accuracy. If the scale being tested displays a number that accurately reflects the actual weight applied, then it is calibrated. When the displayed reading differs from the actual weight, the scale is out of calibration (or out of tolerance).
A-1 Scale has been calibrating scales for over 25 years. We are ISO/ IEC 17025 Accredited, and have the proper Accreditation Certificates needed to calibrate your scale.
